Off-duty Detroit officer arrested for alleged disorderly conduct, carrying weapon while intoxicated

(WXYZ) — A Detroit police officer was arrested and placed on administrative leave from his job after allegedly having a weapon in his possession while under the influence of alcohol.

The arrest occurred Wednesday evening at the Alibi Bar in Warren. According police, the officer was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and carrying a weapon while intoxicated.

The male officer was not on-duty at the time of the incident.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig called what happened, "another troubling, disappointing incident involving a Detroit police officer" in a post on the DPD Facebook page.

He added, "Really, enough is enough. This officer is held to a higher standard."

The Detroit Police Department Internal Affairs unit has started an internal investigation.
