WXYZ DETROIT — It’s time to catch up on our Community Comments. Our editorial about this year’s officially canceled Dream Cruise prompted this tongue and cheek comment from William H. Crawford.

“Make sure you wear a mask while you’re at home watching this Dream Cruise special. Don’t want anyone catching COVID through the TV!”

Patty Welsch warned:

“You can’t stop it, lol! (Dream Cruise) night was crazy in Royal Oak.”

Our editorial about Back to School preparation during COVID-19 sparked retired schoolteacher Sheila Winters to say:

“I have taught my students the Democratic principles of our 3 legs of government; executive, legislative and judicial system of checks and balances. Please help us ‘know’ and ‘use’ our constitution for what it was set up to accomplish!”

Our Give a Child a Book initiative drew this comment from Barbara Armstrong:

“I grew up surrounded by books. Both of my parents were avid readers and I picked up a love for reading early on. I read to my daughter every single night. However, my daughter doesn’t read anything but Facebook posts and Snapchat now, lol, but I still think this is a good thing.”

Even our editorial about Hunger Action Month, triggered a partisan social media message. Susan Rakay pleaded:

“Tell the ignorant Democrats to stop blocking the needed money. Take the pork out of the bill.”

During these pandemic times, Brandi Vaughn of Detroit sent us a poem about washing hands. He’s a little sample of it.

“Wash your hands, Prevent many germs

Wash your hands, Under all terms

Wash your hands, Be proactive in what you do.

Wash your hands, It will save many, if you only knew.”

Thanks for writing and watching.
