WXYZ DETROIT — It’s time to catch up with our Community Comments. Our Newsmaker of the Year announcement prompted these messages. Penny LaTorre wrote:

“They are honoring frontline workers, which they should be! Not everything is political.”

Tina Wilheim said:

“What a deserving tribute to the dedicated men and women who have worked countless hours during this horrible pandemic. Thank you and God bless them!”

The Channel 7 Editorial about our “Give a Child a Book” campaign, inspired Reginald Hearon to send us this comment:

“This is amazing. As a kid at Wilkins Elementary School, I loved reading. Reading is fun.”

Deborah Carter dropped us this message:

“I love this. I’m an adult now and believe it or not, I get funny remarks because I love to read! Books are so cool and you learn something from each book.”

But our editorial on National News Literacy Week garnered some real pro and con reactions. Lynette Hess said:

“Accuracy in reporting, really?”

Carl Varcie said:

“Free press in America? That’s a hoot.

Another viewer posed this question:

“So, what is fake news? When one news network calls it a riot and civil unrest, and the other calls it mostly a peaceful protest with a few bad apples in the bunch?”

- David Bazydlo

Sharon Grossett wrote:

News and credible shouldn’t be used in the same sentence.”

Connie Fisher said:

“Don’t let the naysayers get to you. Local news is vital and it’s clear how seriously your staff and reporters take their jobs.”

And this comment from Malcolm Klein:

“The news business is an easy target. I don’t take the important service they deliver for granted!”

That’s it for now. Thanks for writing and watching.
