Thank you Taylor, Michigan for helping us unify, inspire and listen to downriver issues, concerns and pride!  Through our second Detroit 2020 Town Hall initiative, hosted by Action News journalist Carolyn Clifford, we heard you loud and clear!  What matters to you and where you live in our Southeast Michigan region truly matters to us.

Surprisingly, during our hour-long Town Hall meeting there wasn’t a single question about Washington politics.  It was all local, local and local.  And that makes sense!  What happens in your individual neighborhoods and cities, directly affects your quality of life.

We appreciate your deep interest in K-through-12 education, mental health, the opioid epidemic, public safety, street panhandling and the condition of your local roads.  We were uplifted by your comments about the good deeds young people are doing in your area and the many recreational opportunities available to enhance their future.

Some of what we heard will become future Channel 7 & 20 news stories, investigations, public affairs topics and station editorials.  Some will just help us be in better touch with you and your community.  At Channel  7, we learn a lot from simply listening to the viewers we serve.

Let’s move forward as one region and one state.  Thank you Taylor, thank you downriver, for welcoming our team into your community, your homes and your mobile devices!  We aim to unify, inspire, act – AND LISTEN  - together.

I’m Mike Murri, Vice President & General Manager
