It’s a historic road that goes by many names.  Woodward Avenue is America’s first highway, Detroit’s main street, Automotive Heritage Trail and the All-American Road.  It has stood the test of time and is synonymous with cruising.  The countdown is on for the world’s largest one-day automotive event; the annual Woodward Dream Cruise presented by Ford.

It’s a pure Detroit, free to the public, nostalgic throwback to the 1950’s and 60’s where four-wheeled steel beauties ruled American streets.  It’s also a salute to this nation’s engineering and design expertise as well as our love affair with fast cars and big trucks.  No wonder this popular event that began 24 years ago as a soccer field fundraiser, has grown into a week-long cruising festival attracting over 1 million people and 3-thousand classic cars.

We, at WXYZ, are thrilled to be the official broadcast partner for the Cruise!  Once again, we’ll bring you all the excitement in our 2-hour prime-time broadcast on Channel 7 and streamed live on wxyz.com.  We’re also proud to share this made-in-Detroit experience through a 1-hour syndicated special that will be televised across America, from New York to L.A.

We congratulate Dream Cruise Executive Director Tony Michaels and his Dream Cruise board for their leadership in helping to make it one of Michigan’s premier events.  But you don’t have to be a car enthusiast to enjoy this celebration.  It’s just the perfect backdrop for a family-fun summertime outing on one of America’s most famous roads.  It’s cruising time Detroit!
