CANTON, Mich. (WXYZ) — Canton police say a person was attempting to sell toilet tissue at $60 a case in a parking lot.

The incident happened Wednesday morning in a Meijer parking lot. This example of price gouging comes after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an order for tougher restrictions on businesses trying to price gouge shoppers during the coronavirus outbreak.

The man who captured video of the exorbitantly priced tissue sale said he posted the image to social media where it was shared over 1000 times.

Mike Arcuragi, the man who took the photo, says it’s ridiculous people are trying to take advantage of others in a time when people need to be helping one another.

"I just wish people would calm down and quit hoarding and lets live life, we’ll get over this," he said.
