WARREN, Mich. (WXYZ) — In the wake of a hazing scandal, De La Salle Collegiate is making changes to personnel yet again. This comes as students are preparing to return for the upcoming school year.
It's the letter emailed out to parents of students at De La Salle Collegiate in Warren, informing them of even more personnel changes going forward.
7 Action News is learning in preparation for the 2020-2021 academic year, the board of trustees is announcing principal Nathan Maus is stepping down after seven years.
In the interim, Bro. Kenneth Kalinowski will lead the school. Also, Assistant Principal Brent Widdows is no longer affiliated with De La Salle. His role is being filled by Chris Dean. The letter goes on to say a leadership team is focused on providing the best experience for young men in school.
The letter makes no mention of the hazing scandal involving the football team that led to the cancellation of their last season. Numerous staffing changes and some students being criminally charged for their roles in the alleged hazing.
The team's former football coach has maintained his silence for now, along with others.
Warren police have also maintained a lack of cooperation from some parents and former school officials who conducted an internal investigation prior to involving the police.
A spokesperson for the school said that they are not able to comment on personnel matters.
