The Charlevoix home was designed by architect Earl Young, who became famous for building these unique structures, also known as “hobbit houses” in northern Michigan.

The Sucher House, commissioned by the Sucher Family, owners of Speedway 79 gas and oil at the time, was built in 1948.

It sits on about 100-feet of Lake Michigan waterfront and is within walking distance of downtown Charlevoix. The house is 2,400 square feet, has three beds and four bathrooms.

The Sucher home was completely remodeled to preserve the original charm and features of a classic Earl Young design, which was to blend with nature's design. The centerpiece of the home is a stone hearth and updated contemporary kitchen.

If you can’t afford the home don’t worry, there are self-guided tours to visit all of Earl Young’s splendid northern Michigan designs. CLICK HERE for a brochure.
