Relief is on the way for commuters who regularly travel the Rouge River Bridge.

Today at 1 pm, the Michigan Department of Transportation will announce a major project to rehabilitate the Rouge River Bridge (I-75), the state's largest (by square foot) bridge.

The heavily traveled bridge suffers from age and use, and is sorely in need of a facelift.

A news conference announcing the plans will take place at a SEMCOG office located at 1060 W. Fort Street in Detroit.

After the news conference, MDOT officials will give a tour of the bridge, and stop to review obvious problems.
