PLYMOUTH, MICHIGAN (WXYZ) — This Christmas Eve only Seven Action News cameras were rolling as police carried out a unique operation in Plymouth.

Police officers Josh Carrol and Mark Farhat set up their patrols around the city. They then looked for families out walking or driving by. If they saw them, they stopped them. They then delivered gifts to the children, creating a memory they hope they never forget.

Children responded with joy.

The Pine Lake Country Club in West Bloomfield donated the gifts with the goal of spreading holiday cheer, after perhaps a few moments of stress.

Police say it is all about building positive relationships with the community.

“Ultimately we are here to help people out. If we can spread a little holiday cheer and make everyone happy, we are happy,” Carrol said.

“People aren’t always happy to see us, so this gives us a chance to be out here, and make positive impressions on people,” Farhat said.
