Plymouth requires cameras outside bars and restaurants

(WXYZ) - If you're in downtown Plymouth and get the feeling you're being watched, you're probably onto something--at least that's the plan this spring when downtown restaurants and bars with patios are required to install surveillance cameras.

Frank Yaquinto is the owner of three Plymouth restaurants. He opened up shop in Plymouth almost 13 years ago -- and while the city is safe, he says he understands the precaution.

"I think the city has a small police force and they're trying to head-off any potential problems," said Frank.

Plymouth's Downtown Development Association - or DDA - was behind the push to install the cameras.

Depending on whom you ask, the new cameras are getting mixed reviews.

Business owners will have to hold onto the footage for at least  seven days - or until police ask for the video.
