Detroit police are investigating after three men reportedly broke into a home, pointed a gun at a child and assaulted a man who lived there.

The three men, according to authorities, also claimed to be Detroit police officers.

The family tells 7 Action News there were five children inside the home on Tuller Street when the break-in happened.

"It was three guys in all black. They pistol whipped my fiance... they held a gun to my 7-year-old sister's head... and they demanded some money that we didn't have to give them," said a woman at the home who did not want to be identified.

That woman drove her fiance to the hospital. He did not want to go on camera, but he had an apparent head injury.

The family says the 7-year-old is OK. She was taken by other family members to spend the rest of the night somewhere else.

They say they have no idea about the identity of the men. The family just moved into the home earlier this year.
