Warren police say the 7-year-old appeared to have died of natural causes while staying at the hotel for at least the past couple of days with family who called 911.
Police confirm no signs of trauma to the girl upon their arrival and don't suspect any type of foul play. They say the child had recently been discharged from a nearby hospital in Detroit for treatment related to unknown medical issues.
What's also not being released is whether or not the young girl's death in some way was tied to the coronavirus. Police aren't saying where the child and her family are from, but they do say there were at least two other children staying in the same room at the time.
The medical examiner will be following up tomorrow and the girl's mother and step-father haven't been detained.
