The Farmington Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that happened overnight in a residential area.

Police say the shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Thursday night in the 23500 block of Wesley Street, south of Grand River Avenue. No one was injured in the incident.

Officers were dispatched to the area after numerous 911 calls reporting gunfire. When officers arrived, they found numerous shell casings and quickly determined that the suspects had fled the scene.

Director Frank Demers said, “Although the investigation is ongoing, it is clear that the home was targeted and this was not a random event. Detectives are working with the family to determine why their home was targeted."

Police say witnesses saw as many as three vehicles leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. Anyone with information on the makes and models is asked to call Farmington Public Safety Commander Justin DuLong at 248-474-5000 ext. 2246.
