DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a carjacking-shooting that happened overnight in Detroit.

A 50-year-old victim stopped at a Clark gas station on the 11300 block of Dexter Avenue around 1:30 a.m., police say.

The man went inside to buy cigarettes. It was when he left the gas station and walked to his vehicle that the suspect approached him. According to police, the suspect made no demands and shot the victim. The suspect then got into the victim's car and drove off northbound on Dexter.

The injured victim was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in serious condition.

The suspect got away with the victim's 1999 black Isuzu truck.

Police believe the suspect is still armed.
