The man who posted the viral video of a former Comerica Park food services employee spitting on pizza intended for customers said the employee did it because he was "having a bad day."

Quinell May said the employee claimed to have done it in the past, too.

"I asked him, 'Are you serious about that? Like is he really gonna spit in a customer's pizza?' So I pulled out my phone to have proof, just in case he did it," May said.

After recording it, May said he went to the bathroom looking around to tell people about the video, but couldn't find anybody. He said his managers got angry with him and shut him down when they tried to tell him.

"Every time I tried to talk, they told me to shut up," May said.

He said he was told to leave and threatened with prosecution if he didn't take the post down. 7 Action News has reached out to a spokesperson regarding May's termination and has not yet received a response.

"It's crazy, like, how do you point the finger at me and I'm not the one spitting in pizzas," he said.

May said he believes the contaminated pizza was sold and a customer ate it.

"He said he’s done it before and he’s been working there for 3… or 2 years — so, there’s not telling how many people looked over it, and I was just that one person to catch it… film it… and turn it in," May said.

The employee has been arrested in connection with the incident.
