UPDATE: Power was finally restored to WXYZ just before 12 p.m. We were off the air for nearly three hours.
A power issue at WXYZ forced Channel 7 off the air on Wednesday morning.
The issue happened just before 9:30 a.m. and we're told a DTE box blew up twice, which is like the fuse box at home but much, much larger.
Our generators are working but we can't get the power into the building due to the box blowing up.
Water got into station equipment which caused the outage and fuses to malfunction.
DTE Energy is on site working to fix the problem and get us back on the air, but it's not clear how long we'll be down for.
