The QLINE streetcar is expected to hit the street for its very first test run on Woodward today.

The final piece of the track was welded together just last month, paving the way for the streetcar to make its public debut and begin testing today.

Following a 9 a.m. press conference, the 66 foot long,  87,000 pound streetcar will be towed without passengers the entire 6.6 mile loop. That's protocol, according to the press release.

The streetcar is 15 feet tall and divided into three sections. Officials say it will seat from 125 to 200 people and travel at speeds of up to 35 mph.

The $140 million project is slated to formally open in 2017.

Testing is expected to continue throughout the week.
