Bernice Warren has lived in her Detroit home for fifty years, but it’s not the neighborhood she bought into.

Gone are the pristine properties and the responsible property owners, forcing the elderly Detroit resident to live between two blighted eyesores.

The weeds are waist high and one house has been condemned.

Warren says she has contacted city hall in hopes of having the property owners held responsible and the dangerous conditions fixed, but nothing has happened.

A check of online records show blight violations haven’t been issued on either property in years.

7 Action News contacted Mayor Duggan’s office and was told an inspector would be sent out to issue blight violations. We were also told city council approved for the condemned house to be torn down in 2015, however the funds are not available.

Efforts will be made to have volunteers board up the house.
