Commuters on I-94 had to deal with flooded conditions that left some drivers stranded.

Water on the highway tonight, has already caused some serious problems.

On the I-94 eastbound service ramp at Gratiot two vehicles were unable to pass through deep water, after attempting to make it through before 9 p.m.

Their calls for help were answered by tow truck drivers, who carefully rescued a driver from the frustrating ordeal.

On T-94 at Merriman Road near Metro Airport a Michigan State Police trooper was taken to the hospital after his car was hit while he was investigating a spin out. He was released and will take a few days off to recover.

Along the roads many drivers made every attempt to avoid standing water gathering in low points - particularly on the highways.

In some cases traffic slowed down. In others people simply realized they landed in trouble when it's already far too late.

As the rain continues to fall, problem areas could continue to worsen, meaning tow truck drivers might be in for a late night and early morning.

Thankfully, no drivers were injured.
