Hundreds of people attended a rally called "Black Friday" in Campus Martius Park, before pouring into the streets of downtown Detroit.

It was all in response to the recent shooting tragedies across the country.

Organizers demanded it be a peaceful event. They say it was actually called for right after the shooting in Louisiana.

Organizer Anthony Simmons says no one group is behind the rally, just concerned people in Detroit, after watching killings in Dallas, Louisiana, and Minnesota.

Simmons tells me he does believe in the "Black Lives Matter" movement, also saying all lives matter.

Organizers have talked to police, also giving us this nugget of information, saying investigators have been watching and following the social media of those interacting with the rally.

Police said they would give protesters space, as long as it was peaceful. They wouldn't stand for any violence.
