Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged two brothers for a crime spree in Detroit that included two carjackings on Friday.

According to Wayne County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maria Miller, Deonte Russell, 20, and Dontonio Russell, 21, are charged with carjacking, unlawful driving away an automobile, fleeing and eluding third degree, receiving and concealing stolen property and resisting arrest.

It is believed they carjacked a 49-year-old woman and her 85-year-old grandmother at a gas station on Friday afternoon around 12:10. We're told they pushed the 85-year-old woman out of the car and took off.

The brothers are also charged in a separate carjacking near the same area on Aug. 31.

The community actually helped police catch the suspects. A witness used Facebook Live and helped chase down the suspects and called police. Viewers on the woman's Facebook live helped keep her updated on the suspects' whereabouts.

"The community really came together for this," she said. "I am so excited, I just want to congratulate the community, because it's because of them, not because of me, it is because of the community, we worked together for this."
