The ice storm isn’t stopping Central Michigan University fans from yelling “Fire up Chips!” at Ford Field.

Thousands are in Detroit for the Quick Lane Bowl as Central takes on the University of Minnesota.

The crowds don’t seem to be concerned about the ice storm making roads treacherous.

“That’s why we’re here early. We wanted to get ahead of the storm,” said Tami Thomas, who came to Ford Field to see her son play for CMU.

They spent several hours enjoying family and friends at Cheli’s Chili Bar, near the stadium.

It seems the weather could mean an increase in business at restaurants, bars, and hotels near Ford Field.

“Worst case scenario, we are going to go park at Greektown and celebrate our win,” said Marcus Tomyn, a CMU student.
