DETROIT (WXYZ) — A day of protests against migrant families in detention was closed out with another march and candlelight vigil in Detroit.

The protesters are speaking out against the treatment of migrant families at the border.

Several hundred protesters filled the parking lot, saying they're not willing to stand for detention camps at the border. The protest started at the office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Mt. Elliot.

It was part of the Lights for Liberty National Day of Action. They marched up the sidewalk on Jefferson, stopping outside the unmarked office of a privatized prison company.

They also spoke out in anticipation of ICE raids on Sunday, as well as what they describe as unacceptable and inhumane conditions that families are forced to stay in, ending with a candlelight vigil for those seeking asylum and a better life in the United States.
