Sewer backup spilled into the streets and basements of one Detroit neighborhood after yesterday's storm.
The homes on Detroit's east side were damaged again- after yesterday's strong rainstorm.
Juliette moved into this area in 2011 and says she's tired of getting floods in her home. And she's not alone.
The Detroit Water and Sewerage department says this is a flood zone area. In fact it's the only area in the city below river level.
Since the last flood, last month, they have hired independent contractors to look at ways to prevent it from happening again.
Today, Detroit city council president Brenda jones and councilmember Andre Spivey met with the people dealing with water damage.
The city says since the last round of floods, community meetings have been held, and more than a hundred homes have been cleaned and sanitized with a few dozen more to go.
While the cause of backups is still being looked into, the city says they are on it and are working hard to make sure it doesn't happen again.
The city says there are a few other things being done right now. A meeting is scheduled for Thursday. Residents can go, share their concerns and file a claim.
It will be Thursday August 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Samaritan Center at 5555 Conner in Detroit.
At the meeting the Water and Sewerage Department will outline ways to prevent flooding from happening again.
Also, if you have water damage, you can call 211 - someone will be dispatched to your home to clean and sanitize the area. You can also file a claim online.
