Detroit nonprofit seeking volunteers to help families during COVID-19 outbreak

DETROIT (WXYZ) — The Detroit Phoenix Center is seeking volunteers to help families in need.

The DPC will be packing and distributing 150 boxes of food and essential items to youth and families in need, along with providing virtual wellness check-ins.

The nonprofit is looking for volunteer help assembling packages to be delivered to families in need containing nonperishable food items and hygiene supplies.

It will also be accepting monetary donations to buy specialty materials and supplies like diapers and baby food. You can donate here

The DPC is also still accepting donations, including:

  • Nonperishable foods, like soup, ramen noodles, breakfast bars, etc.
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towel
  • Wet wipes
  • Shampoo
  • Body wash
  • Hygiene products
  • Laundry detergent
