Several brand new stolen trucks were recovered by the Detroit police department's commercial auto theft unit this morning and our cameras were there as it all went down.

They were Ford F-150s.

We're told the vehicles were stolen last night and found in the yards of several abandoned homes on Detroit's northwest side.

Chief Craig says they were able to retrieve the cars quickly because someone saw something and said something.

7 Action News cameras were rolling as one by one stolen trucks were taken out of yards and put onto tow trucks this morning.

After some surveillance and investigative work by the DPD's auto theft unit, 5 stolen F 150s were recovered - all Platinum series trucks.

They were in the yards of abandoned homes. One had no wheels.

After a traffic stop, we're told one person who was inside a Mercedes Benz was arrested in connection to the crime.

This afternoon the F150s were taken to a police contracted tow yard for processing.

The investigation continues.

Police say Ford is doing an internal audit to find out where the trucks came from and if more were stolen.
