Detroit Police Department officers are in a state of heightened alert following the shooting deaths of three officers on Sunday morning in Baton Rouge, La.

According to Detroit Police Chief James Craig, he will be visiting different precincts throughout the day.

"I worry about the safety of our officers every day," Assistant Detroit Police Chief Steve Dolunt said. "Luckily, we have the community that stands behind us."

Three officers were killed and three more were injured in the shooting around 9 a.m. local time in Baton Rouge.

The shooting comes just over a week after five police officers were killed and several others injured in Dallas. A similar warning was issued after that shooting.

"To me, it seems like in some cities, an all-out assault on law enforcement, and without law enforcement, it's anarchy," Dolunt said.
