Detroit police are searching for two suspects in an armed robbery of two boys and a teen that was apparently set up over social media.
Officers say it happened around 5:00 p.m. on August 2.
Police say the victims, a 12-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and a 19-year-old young man, had agreed to meet up with the suspects in the 15700 block of Forrer to sell a pair of shoes.
The victims had set the deal up over social media.
When they met up with the victims, police say, one of the suspects pull a gun and demanded the 19-year-old hand over the shoes.
Officers say when the 19-year-old tried to drive away, the second suspect reached into the car and tried to take his cell phone.
It's at that point, police say, the first suspect pointed the gun at the 13-year-old, who was sitting in the back seat and began taking items from the 12-year-old
The suspects then ran away from the scene, heading south.
The first suspect is an African American man with a light complexion, between 15 and 18-years old. He is 5'8" tall and weighs about 120 pounds. He has a long afro and was last seen wearing an orange Nike hoody and carrying the gun. A picture of him is attached to this article.
The second suspect in also an African American man with a light complexion. He is between 15 and 18-years-old, about 5'6" tall and weighing about 120 pounds. He has short hair and freckles on his face. He was last seen wearing gray basketball shorts and white tennis shoes.
Police say the suspects are connected to three other armed robberies in the area. Those robberies occurred on Winthrop near Purtian, Rutherford near Keeler and in the 15400 block of Winthrop.
Police say they should be considered armed and dangerous.
