DETROIT (WXYZ) — Back in May, 7 Action News showed you how the water levels along the canal in Jefferson-Chalmers were spilling over, threatening nearby homes.

City workers are back in the area to prevent more flooding, working at Alfred Brush Ford Park bagging sand again.

It’s like a replay from a couple of months ago - maybe even worse.

You can see the flooding due to historic water levels. Flooding from the canal’s high water is threatening homes along Scripps Street as city workers try to stop it.

After the workers finish putting sand in bags today they will be out placing those bags along problem areas starting tomorrow.

They want folks to leave the bags there until the city says they can remove it. If you move it yourself, you could face a fine.
