An elderly woman who lives in Detroit says she wants something done about the abandoned house next door to her.

She says she's been calling the city for years. She finally called our Jennifer Bisram.

The woman says she's afraid of squatters moving in and concerned about parts of the home falling onto hers. She wants the house boarded up or taken down.

Seventy-five-year old Betty Dickens has been living in this house on the 3200 block of Taylor in Detroit since 1962 and until recently felt safe.

"I think the house is very dangerous," Dickens says.

She's talking about the house next door. She says the previous owners moved out back in 2012 and the home has been abandoned since.

We called the city today. They came by and checked it out. They tell us it's privately owned and the homeowner is up to date on the taxes, so there isn't too much they could do, other than reach out to community organizations to see if they could help.

Motor City Blight Busters answered their call.

They says they are going to try to have the home boarded up and cleaned up by the end of the week.

In the meantime, the city says if there's a home that you have concerns about in your neighborhood, call your district manager - they are the ones who will be able to help you.
