It takes a selfless person to answer the call to help someone in need without hesitation.
Forty-eight-year-old Darlene Walker of Detroit has been a lifesaver for her twin sister Marlene Griffin.
In 2013 Marlene suffered a massive stroke and is now paralyzed. Darlene has been her full-time caregiver ever since.
Right now, they rely upon Superior EMS to take Marlene to doctor appointments. This is the only form of transportation that can accommodate her needs.
Darlene’s daily wish is to have a wheelchair accessible van to take her sister to see the world.
Right now the front porch is as far as Marlene can go.
It’s been difficult for Darlene to see her sister suffering - a woman who has helped so many people is now in need of help herself.
“She worked for 28 years as a CNA, a certified nursing assistant. What she did was provide services for nursing homes and same services she provided are the same services she is in need of now”, says Marlene’s twin sister, Darlene Walker.
Darlene would love to take Marlene to the park, to church, even on a boat.
She just wants to see her sister enjoy life and experience some of the things she enjoyed before the stroke.
