As the city of Detroit grieved the loss of one of its own Captain Kenneth Steil, bike clubs and car clubs across the area called for an end to gun violence.

They did so with a ride from the west side to the east.

They rode through neighborhoods, car after car, hoping it served once again as a wake up call.

Tamara Smith was behind the effort, seeing too many innocent victims lose their lives.

She told us, "Don't be silent. If you see something, speak up. Together we can make a difference in the city."

The ride ended, rightfully so, at the 9th Precinct, the area where husband and father of two Steil worked for years.

Pastor Maurice Hardwick, better known as Pastor Mo, said during a prayer, " This is for Detroit. This is for the birthday of the Spirit of Detroit."

The night ended with about 50 people gathered next to the balloons and well wishes left behind at the 9th Precinct for Steil.

Reverend Rideout says, " Until we stop this senseless killings, it's going to get worse and worse."
