We’ve been following the water crisis in the Detroit Public Schools Community District.

Drinking water sources have been shut down at all schools after tests found dangerous levels of lead and copper in water in numerous buildings.

The Detroit Federation of Teachers is working to help get clean drinking water in schools for students and staff. It needed help getting pallets of water delivered and asked 7 Action News for help.

We reached out to our advertisers. Wallside Windows responded right away.

On Thursday Wallside Windows delivered the water to The Parade Company where it will be divided up and delivered to schools across the city next week.

“It is fantastic. I think our community partners really stepped up no questions asked,” said Terrence Martin, the union’s executive vice president.

Martin says other unions will help deliver the water to schools next week, and the parade company helped with storage.

“Anything for kids. that is what we do every day,” said Tony Michaels, Parade Company President

If you are interested in donating water for the children you are asked to call either the Detroit Public Schools Community District administrative offices or the Detroit Federation of Teachers.
