Quasshie Haten, 23, had just moved back to Michigan from Ohio to prepare to basketball tryouts.

Haten wanted to play professional basketball overseas, but late Wednesday night he was shot to death while sitting in the passenger seat of his brother's car.

Haten's brother was not in the vehicle, but the brother's girlfriend was in the driver's seat when a masked man opened her car door and began firing into the vehicle.

The 24-year-old woman was wounded. She was treated and released from a local hospital Thursday.

Quasshie Haten died from multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting happened behind an apartment building on Gladstone near Woodrow Wilson on Detroit's west side.

Anyone with any information is urged to call DPD homicide investigators at 313-596-2260.
