Someone dropped off an emaciated dog at Detroit Animal Care and Control with a horrible case of mange.

The dog animal control workers and volunteers named "Benny" needed a lot of help and resources animal control could not provide.

That's when Detroit Dog Rescue (DDR) decided Benny needed them urgently and would be one of the dogs they had to help save.

"He's so uncomfortable. This is torture," says DDR Executive Director Kristina Rinaldi about Benny's horrible condition that also includes poorly maintained nails that curled into the pads of his paws.

On Monday, DDR pulled Benny from animal control and took him to a veterinarian where he will have to remain in isolation, but will get the treatment he desperately needs.
