Fans all across the metro area are reacting to the news of the passing of Mike Ilitch.
They tell 7 Action News he made the city champions, many referring to the four Stanley Cup Championships he won as owner of the Red Wings.

They were quick to mention a couple of World Series appearances by the Detroit Tigers as well.
Shane McKenna told us, "My heart stopped when I heard it. I couldn't believe it."
Erin Randolph echoed those same sentiments, saying, "So sad. He was an icon. It's a shame he wasn't around to see Little Caesar's finished."
During the Duel in the D hockey game between Michigan and Michigan State, fans circled the concourse with heavy hearts. His name is written on the floor of the concourse, some stopping to take photos of his name in the Red Wings logo.
Scott Mayer says, "It's a tragedy. I hope the family continues the tradition."
