Imagine an open house where you can take in history, design and Christmas decorations. That's what the Indian Village Holiday Home Tour is all about.

The gala and tour take place this weekend, and Syma Chowdhry got an inside look at some of the homes.

"All you smell is Christmas, you know. You smell the fireplace burning, the smell of the evergreens, cinnamon. It's just so warm and inviting," Deborah Slobin with Le Shoppe Too said. She helped decorate one of the homes.

t’s a gift for all your senses! The Indian Village Holiday Home Tour opens the door to historic houses decked out for the holidays.

“When do you get a chance to come to a home like this and spend time?” Slobin asked.

You can at a VIP gala that takes place Friday evening - where you go to four different historic homes on Iroquois Street to learn about the history, design and holiday decor.

“Appetizers at one home, dessert in another home, dinner over here, so it really gives you a really nice feeling of enjoying the holidays in a different kind of way," she added.

On Sunday - there will be tours offered at six homes total, two of them are actually on sale.

“It’s beautiful, seeing how everyone else decorated their home in a different way making it unique to that home, it gives you your own ideas for your own home," she added

The owners of this mansion, built in 1912, have done extensive research to learn about its history and found photos of some of the former owners.

The money raised will go towards a scholarship for Detroit students who are sponsored by a current or former Indian Village resident. They hope to raise $20,000 this weekend.

“If you like decor, you can hear about designers that helped design some of the houses, you will see awesome Christmas decorations, the fireplace will be going, cocktails will be served," Renata Miller Taylor of the Indian Village Garden Club said.
