Justin Verlander and his charity, Wins for Warriors, are holding a 4-mile race this fall as part of the Fifth Third Bank Armed Services Salute.

The race will happen in Detroit on Nov. 6 in conjunction with the event to honor veterans less than a week before Veterans Day.

The Inaugural 4Star 4Mile race will run in conjunction with the Detroit Veterans Day Parade and step off at Hart Plaza at 12 p.m.

"I can't tell you how much this means to me to go from where we started to here today to talk about this event," Verlander said at a press conference this afternoon.

Verlander started Wins for Warriors in August 2013 to empower those returning from war in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the website.
