Detroit Police are searching for the person who opened fire on two men in a locksmith truck around 11 a.m. Monday morning on Seven Mile Road near Greenfield on the city's west side.

"Mr. Steve's" is written on Steve Miller's locksmith truck.

Late Monday morning, the 59-year-old was traveling west on Seven Mile with his 35-year-old stepson when someone drove up to the passenger side of the vehicle and opened fire on the two men as they approached the intersection.

Miller's stepson was released from prison earlier this year.

A man who said he's Miller's old friend, but did not want to be identified, told 7 Action News that Miller's stepson had to be the target.

He said the 35-year-old was targeted in another shooting about a month ago. He was shot but survived.

In today's shooting, Miller's stepson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said the shooter was in a white Caravan.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Detroit police homicide investigators at 313-596-2260.
