Detroit Public Service road maintenance crews will continue to monitor road conditions through the overnight hours, Thursday into Friday.

Thursdays rush hour traffic was the first snow at the peak driving time for the season.

If you were out driving in it, you might have felt like driver, Willie Perkins.

"It was horrible, slipping, sliding, no salt anywhere, I don't know what happened, people just forgot how to drive,” said Perkins.

He said his normal commute is about 15 minutes, and Thursday it took an hour.

There were fender benders, spin outs, icy patches and slow going all over the metro area.

I-75 closed down briefly because road conditions were poor and the area needed to be treated.

The amount of overnight snowfall will determine how many crews are out in Wayne County, but there will be salt trucks out.

"In case there are some isolated spots, we will have people staffed to take care of those areas,” said William Burton, the director of DPS Road Maintenance in Wayne County.

Take it slow and plan extra time on the morning drive on Friday.
