Metal detectors to be put in place as security is increased at Comerica Park

DETROIT (WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned that metal detectors will be in place for people to walk through as they enter Comerica Park - starting with Opening Day.
Major League Baseball is urging all 30 teams to use metal detectors this year.
The Tigers will not be the first pro team in Metro Detroit to use walk through metal detectors. They have been in place for several years at Joe Louis Arena for the Red Wings and across the street at the Fox Theatre.
The Palace of Auburn Hills and Ford Field use wands to check fans. The venues have also banned backpacks and larger handbags.
Purses are checked as people enter arenas.
