As a 4th grader, Torrin told his parents he had learned about kids with cancer at school and because he couldn't give them money, he wanted to give his hair.
So he spent almost 3 years growing it out, all the while being bullied from other kids who said he looked like a girl.
When Channel 7 asked Torrin why he decided to donate, he said: "Because that was the right thing to do."
But six months after giving his hair to Wigs for Kids, his family got a terrible surprise.
Torrin had Stage 4 Hodgkins lymphoma - a crushing diagnosis for parents who had, ironically, just watched their own son help other kids battle the very same disease.
Torrin just finished his first round of chemotherapy. He has another round to do at the end of the year.
But the family says they cannot support him -- emotionally or financially -- without the support of the community.
They say they appreciate the outpouring of support they've received from national organizations, local businesses, and even, strangers.
