Mother arraigned in kidnapping infant girl that prompted Amber Alert

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged a Detroit mother in connection to the kidnapping of her infant daughter that prompted an Amber Alert earlier this week.

According to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maria Miller, Marquita Dupree, 33, is charged with one count of kidnapping - child enticement.

Police say Dupree is not allowed to have visits with her daughter, 11-month-old Savanna Wreford. On MOnday afternoon, Dupree allegedly arranged to meet with the infant's foster mother at a doctor's appointment so she could see her daughter.

After the foster mother took Savanna out of the car seat, it is believed Dupree grabbed the girl, refused to give her back and fled the location. The foster mother immediately called police an an Amber Alert was issued.

On Tuesday night, both Dupree and Savanna were found inside a home unharmed. She was arrested.

Dupree was arraigned by video on the charge Thursday afternoon. A not guilty plea was entered on her behalf ad she was given a $250,000 cash/surety bond.
