A preliminary hearing came to a shocking stop after one of the suspects accused of killing Anthony Tolson did something that concerned the judge.
Tolson was a young father and a popular musician who was murdered in Detroit on Christmas Eve.
Police say they got their triggermen, shortly after the two were featured on a Detroit’s Most Wanted segment here on 7 Action News.
The suspects were in court today for a preliminary hearing, but were quickly removed by the judge after some disturbing behavior.
Eighteen-year old Darnell Young and 33-year old Charles Cox - both in jailhouse jumpsuits - listened to witness testimony during their hearing.
Police say the two carjacked and killed Tolson Christmas Eve outside of a party store in Detroit. Tolson had just left Central Baptist Church, where he played bass in a holiday service.
He was on his way home to open gifts with his kids, but never made it there.
On the stand today was one of Young's family members - who testified Young told her about the murder.
Cameras caught Young mouthing something during the testimony. Shortly afterward both Young and Cox were ordered by the judge to be escorted out of the courtroom. As they left, Young could be heard cursing.
The judge later said that while it wasn't clear what young was saying - it appeared to be menacing and his facial expressions were angry.
Both men are facing several charges including murder, carjacking and armed robbery. If convicted they could spend the rest of their lives behind bars.
The hearing is expected to continue Monday morning.
