Mom, teen dead after possible firebombing on Detroit's northeast side

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A mother and her teen son are dead this morning following a possible overnight firebombing on Detroit's northeast side.

The 49-year-old mother's body was found in the front room of a home on the 20-thousand block of Spencer. That's near Van Dyke and Outer Drive on the city's northeast side.

Her 16-year-old son was transported to Detroit Receiving Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

Police say they are questioning a family member who says he arrived home to find the fire burning. The man wasn't wearing a shirt or shoes.
