Would you a rappel down a high-rise building for a good cause?

The "Over the Edge" fundraiser is returning to Detroit Friday and Saturday.

Participants have to raise $1,000 to rappel down the 25-story First National building on Woodward. Money goes to American Promise Schools and Detroit 2 Nepal. Both are educational programs for kids in Detroit and overseas.

Dr. Richard Keidan of D2Nepal said, "The money is split between children in Detroit and children in Nepal. About 50/50."

"American Promise Schools graduates over 90% of our students and we send over 90% to college so we are thrilled that events like this help us to even broaden that impact more and more," said Melissa Hamann, the CEO of American Promise Schools.

This is the second straight year "Over the Edge" is in Detroit. Last year they raised more than $230,000 and this year they are hoping to double that.

Dr Keidan added, "This year we've already raised about $400,000 and money is still coming in."
