Six people taken to hospital following crash on Detroit's west side

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Detroit police are on the scene of a bad accident on Detroit's west side that has sent six people to the hospital.

Police say officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a Ford Mustang when it took off. Police say they disengaged and turned off their lights before the crash.

Some distance from where police attempted the stop, the Mustang slammed into an SUV. The scene is at Mark Twain and Lyndon.

A mother and here three children were inside the SUV. They have all been taken to the hospital. They are identified only as a 44-year-old black woman, a 16-year-old black boy, 14-year-old black boy and a 16-year-old black girl.

The two suspects are a 30-year-old black man and a 33-year-old black man. Both are in custody at the hospital.

Police have not commented on any specific injuries or conditions of those involved in the accident.
