"I'd tell him that he shouldn't be doing that to people," said 87-year-old Doris, whose last name we're withholding, about the young man Detroit Police say mugged her. "I never did nothing to him."

Doris was born and raised in Detroit, and, until now, has never been the victim of a crime.

Detroit Police recently announced the arrest of Dominick Kelly, 19, who investigators said was identified with the help of a surveillance camera mounted to a store along Dexter near Collingwood on the city's west side.

The store is part of the Green Light Program.

"Every time I get to that corner, I think about it," said Doris who sat down with 7 Action News Tuesday to talk about the bumps and bruises she sustained the day she was pushed to the ground from behind.

Doris hit the ground, and the robber grabbed her purse and took off running.

Doris walked home after the robbery and assault, and she said detectives told her it was a Green Light camera that led to the arrest.

"I was glad," said Doris. "But I didn't know they have cameras in those lights out there."

The flashing green lights posted on the outside of gas stations and stores around the city indicate high-definition cameras that can be monitored by Detroit Police are in use.

On Tuesday, Dominick Kelly waived his preliminary examination in the case and was bound over for trial on charges of Unarmed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.

As for Doris, her brother now takes her to store, and he still worries about his big sister.
