It was a robbery and a demolition all at the same time.

Surveillance video shows the wall of the A & W Food Center in the 13000 block of Mack about to give way.

Brazen thieves pounded through two layers of concrete and a shelving unit to get inside.

The family that owns the store watched the early morning break-in unfold from monitors at home.

Once inside, the thieves went after top-shelf alcohol and cigarettes.

Police arrived as the suspects were fleeing the scene and caught one of them.

Three-dozen cameras watch over the store, but even that didn't deter the suspects - who left behind a hole about the size of s small window and hundreds of dollars in ruined merchandise.

It's a blow to this family-owned business that has been a fixture in the community for three generations.

They estimate the damage at anywhere from $4,000 to $5,000.
